An international marketing CV leads with measurable outcomes, runs to two pages, omits photographs and personal details, and mirrors the conventions of the employer's market rather than local ones.
TL;DR
- Lead with outcomes, not responsibilities.
- Two pages maximum, no photograph, no personal details.
- Localise the format to the employer, not to your habit.
Outcomes, not duties
"Responsible for social media" tells a reader nothing. "Grew organic social to 40% of new sign-ups over eleven months" tells them what happens if they hire you.
Every bullet should contain a number, a timeframe, or a decision you made. If it contains none of those, delete it.
Format conventions differ
CVs in much of Africa carry a photograph, date of birth, marital status and full address. In the UK, US and much of Europe those are omitted and their presence signals unfamiliarity with the market.
This is not about erasing where you are from. It is about removing anything that gives a screener an easy reason to move on.
Frequently asked questions
Should I mention my location?
Yes, plainly, with your time-zone overlap. Hiding it wastes everyone's time.
